Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, in conjunction with the Project Courage Foundation, will host the first FAU Veterans Scholarship Golf Classic on Saturday, May 21 at Atlantic National Golf Club, 6400 Grand Lacuna Blvd., in Lake Worth. All proceeds will benefit the FAU Veteran’s Gap Scholarship Fund and Emergency Relief Fund, which support veterans in reaching their educational, personal and professional goals. Each semester, FAU averages four veteran ֱ that experience financial hardship or seek assistance with tuition.

Participants will have the opportunity to golf with military personnel, NFL alumni, as well as Lt. Col. Danny McKnight, who fought in the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993. His heroic actions were later portrayed in the 2001 film “Black Hawk Down.” McKnight also will give a speech on service and leadership during the lunch reception.

FAU’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs serves as an advocate for military and veteran ֱ, provides resources and support that enhance academic success, and streamlines processes to ease the transition from military to campus life.

The Project Courage Foundation is a 501c3 corporation whose mission is to link veterans to those with no military background through athletic and social activities.
