FAU Receives Record-breaking Engineers’ Council ֱ
The Engineers’ Council’s annual National Engineers Week Honors & ֱ celebration is the largest nationwide, with attendance of more than 800 people from coast to coast representing engineering, manufacturing, education, and technical society organizations.
Faculty members representing a wide range of disciplines in ’s recently took home a record-breaking number of awards from the Engineers’ Council, a not-for-profit professional society organized in 1955 to advance education in engineering and the sciences, encourage engineering career selection in youth, and recognize engineers for their significant accomplishments.
With a total of 10 awards, the recognition of honorees in FAU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science is the largest designation to a singular entity in the nine-year history in Florida, and represents 22 percent of the total designated awards this year.
“This outstanding accomplishment by our faculty is a testament to the innovative and cutting-edge work that is taking place throughout Florida Atlantic University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science,” said , Ph.D., dean of FAU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science. “We could not be more proud of this recognition from the Engineers’ Council and we applaud our honorees for their numerous contributions in their fields and for their tireless efforts on behalf of education, research, and community engagement.”
The following FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science honorees received the Engineers’ Council awards at a special banquet at the :

- , Ph.D., a distinguished research professor in the Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering, received the “William B. Johnson International Inter-Professional Founders Award”
- , Ph.D., an associate professor in the Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering, received the “Outstanding Engineering Achievement Merit Award”
- , Ph.D., a professor and director of the NSF Research Center in the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the “Distinguished Engineering Educator Award”
- , Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the “Engineering Educator of the Year Award”
- , Ph.D., associate chair and a professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering, received the “Distinguished Engineering Educator Award”
