‘FAU Day’ Celebrated at the Florida Capitol

Florida Atlantic University recently celebrated “FAU Day” at the Florida Capitol.

Florida Atlantic University recently celebrated “FAU Day” at the Florida Capitol. Every year, FAU sends a select group of ֱ to advocate on behalf of the University in Tallahassee.

“Our goal is to bring FAU to national prominence and to further its recognition as a center of top-quality educational programs, economic development, meaningful research and transformative community engagement,” said FAU President John Kelly. “FAU Day is a great way to share FAU’s successes, engage lawmakers, and increase awareness and understanding of the University’s legislative priorities.”

FAU Day began with breakfast at the Capitol with Jeff Atwater, chief financial officer of the state of Florida, who will join FAU as vice president for strategic initiatives and chief financial officer after the end of the legislative session. FAU Day delegates then toured both the Senate and House chambers, as well as had lunch while listening to guest speaker Marshall Criser, chancellor of the .

“Florida Atlantic University is redefining its focus on student success.  As a result, the University is one of the fastest-improving institutions in our State University System,” said Criser. “FAU has demonstrated incredible progress as displayed in last year’s performance funding model. Florida can be proud of what President Kelly, his faculty, staff and ֱ have accomplished.”

The day concluded with a reception at the Capitol for FAU ֱ, legislators and aides.
