U.S. Congressman Ted Deutch Visits College of Medicine

U.S. Congressman Ted Deutch visited Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine to meet and discuss health policies and the changing health care system with medical ֱ.

U.S. Congressman Ted Deutch visited Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine to meet and discuss health policies and the changing health care system with medical ֱ at the Boca Raton campus.

College of Medicine faculty, ֱ and staff attended the session, which included a discussion between Deutch and future physicians pertaining to healthcare and the role of the U.S. government in today’s society.

“There is so much exciting news coming from the Charles Schmidt medical school,” said Deutch. “I am always grateful for the opportunity to interact with this impressive group of ֱ, the doctors of tomorrow.”

The American Medical Students Association, a student organization within the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, hosted the event.

FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine is the first and only medical school in Palm Beach County and was launched in 2010, when the Florida Board of Governors made a landmark decision authorizing FAU to award the M.D. degree. After receiving approval from the Florida legislature and the governor, it became the 134th allopathic medical school in North America and admitted its inaugural class in August 2011.

Deutch represents Florida’s 21st district, home to communities throughout western Palm Beach County and Broward County. He is currently serving his fourth term in the 114th DzԲ.
